About Me
I was introduced to sailing on an activity holiday in Egypt with my Dad in 2006. Once we came back from the holiday I was keen to carry on so began sailing on a Thursday night at a small lake in Cheshire called Astbury Mere. Whilst there I worked through my RYA stages and assistant instructor qualification, and competed in a couple of onboard events where I found a new interest in racing.

In 2009 my dad bought us a Laser to ‘share’ and we joined Redesmere Sailing Club which was a more race focused club and had very active junior racers. Over the first winter and spring, sailing was competing with Rugby which also took place on a Sunday so I would often only do 1 or 2 of the afternoon races. During the spring and summer, once the rugby season had ended, I would sail pretty much every Sunday and Wednesday evening. By the middle of that year, I wanted to compete outside the club on a local junior circuit. Going from a 42 acre lake at Redesmere to Southport which was three and a half times bigger took me out of my comfort zone but I really enjoyed it.
In the following few years I progressed through the local events in my Laser Radial before I started to compete at the national level events around the UK. Whilst I was sailing Lasers I had coaching from many of the country's top coaches in South Shields, Weymouth, Hayling Island and Pwllheli. Over the winters of 2015 and 2016 I was a member of the British Youth Sailing Team after being selected following my results at Laser World and European qualifying events.
By the end of my youth career in the Laser, I had competed in 5 National Championships, 5 Youth National Championships, 4 European Championships and 4 World Championships. During my last year of youth sailing I was offered opportunities to sail both the Solo Nationals and the Phantom Nationals. Since then I have competed in various National and World Championships in Solos, Fireballs, OKs, Albacores, and Phantoms.
I am now based in Northampton and have been an active member of Northampton Sailing Club since 2016, after moving to Northamptonshire to work. I initially began working there as a shop assistant before moving on to the sail loft in early 2017, where I was involved in making, designing and selling sails for different classes including Solos, Fireballs and OKs. Working in the marine industry has enabled me to keep competing at a high level, and combine my interest in sailing with my work.

I am constantly striving to work on my development and enjoy seeing this reflected in my performances which is part of the reason I enjoy coaching. I find it very rewarding to help others to improve their sailing. I first began coaching while still at Redesmere Sailing Club when I was 18/19 years old. I have recently been enjoying running Solo-specific training sessions at Northampton Sailing Club and at other clubs prior to Solo events. Between January and March 2026, I have run several Solo training sessions with different focuses to help with development of sailing skills but also maintaining sailing fitness over the winter. I also have several other Solo coaching events lined up for 2026.

I am a qualified RYA Race Coach and RYA Senior Instructor, and also have a Powerboat Level 2 qualification from RYA. While I arrange some of my own training sessions, I am also available for private 1-to-1 or small group coaching, and can travel to host training sessions across the UK.
